Fathers Day!

Well, Mothers Day has come and gone with some pain once again. Never knowing exactly what the Mother of the household really wants or to do on her day.

Women do not make it very easy for the husband to celebrate their day at all I believe. Some may want to relax or just have a day where they are left alone and not bothered by the husband or kids. Some I am sure would love to see the whole family go to town cleaning and picking up the whole yard on their holiday so it is done and the lady of the household does not have to worry about any of it at any time.

Well, for being the husband and father of my two daughters let me tell you a wife can not get it right either, but we can not tell them what we want nor tell the ladies what they chose for us was totally the wrong idea for that particular year. My wife thinks that I want to spend my time with my children on fathers day more than just letting me relax or sleeping on the lounge chair on the deck. I have had lots of things thrown out by her over our short marriage of 18 years.

Lets see what some of those things have been in the past.....

I know one year my beautiful wife wanted me to take our 2 daughters and her son to a park and go play with them. She may have even told me to take them to Six Flags possibly. Well I am not sure how thats a fathers day to me. I all ready spend quite a bit of time with the kids and do most of the running around for them. Getting them to all their sports and friends homes and all.

How about while she gave me a hammock to lay in on a fathers day she also gave me a list of chores just about. I went to lay on it and she said the lawn needs mowing and a good trim also. I do not remember telling her she should clean out the toilet on mothers day! Hell I thinks thats just rude but....    The following year when I wanted to do lay in the hammock (or at least try) she mentioned how that lawn needs a mowing. Phew, I couldn't believe it then.

Most of the time she doesn't just buy say some tickets to a baseball game or ask to just go riding on the back of my Harley and go riding. I would love to have her join me say once or twice a year and just go out and even ride for say 2-3 hours and then come home and snuggle together and watch a movie.

How about the following for a fathers day gift from your family.

• Tickets to a Baseball game for him and possibly his friends.
• Let the father sleep the afternoon away.
• Lay on a hammock while the wife and kids do the yard work.
• Take him or allow him to go golfing.
• Go riding on his motorcycle.
• Go fishing.
• For those younger - rock climbing.

As you can see put a new face onto Fathers Day for your husband and not give a tie or some weird shirt. I would love to see my wife buy me a jacket from HD or take my interests serious and at least me to have some. 

Every wife wants a family to spend time together but at times you do need to allow a variation to happen. Now I will not argue that part of the day needs to be spent with the family so everyone can say how they appreciate their father/husband but also let them choose or do some thing on their own. You only make an impression once per year. Make it a splash this year.
